Catalytic N2O destruction project of two nitric acid plants at Novomoskovsky Azot.
| Project type: | N2O destruction (industrial processes - N2O) under the JI |
| Host country: | Russian Federation |
| Location: | Novomoskovsk, Tula Region |
| Project owner: | OJCS Novomoskovsky Azot (a subsidiary of EUROCHEM) |
| Our involvement: | CARBON CLIMATE PROTECTION GmbH, is developing the project activity under the JI and lead the JI process in the project. Furthermore CARBON CLIMATE PROTECTION GmbH invests into the secondary abatement technology and measurement equipment. |
| Brief project description: | The project aims to reduce N2O emissions at the UKL 7-71 nitric acid plants of OJCS Novomoskovsky Azot and secure social benefits. The project applies a secondary abatement technology that destroys N2O inside the ammonia oxidation reactor by equipping them with the N2O decomposition catalyst right below the platinum gauze in the high temperature zone of the reactors. A reduction efficiency of more than 85% can be achieved. |
| Project status: | JI project development |
| Emission reduction start: | October 2009 |
| Crediting period: | From 2009 to 2012 |
| Annual CER volume (PDD): | 547,731 tCO2e/year |
| Total CER volume (PDD): | 1,780,126 tCO2e |
